Mother's Day Classic
The Mother's Day Classic is one of Australia's largest annual fun run/walk events which raises money for breast cancer research. Since its inception thirteen years ago, the event has raised over $7.8 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Funds raised through the annual event have contributed to important research which has resulted in gradually improving the survival rate of the one in nine women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85.
Walk or Run to raise funds for breast cancer research
On Sunday 9 May 2010, more than 105,000 participants took part in events held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Geelong, Gold Coast, Hobart, Melbourne, Parramatta, Perth, Sydney and 23 regional locations across Australia.
Event participants are encouraged to ask friends, family and colleagues to support their involvement in the walk or run. Individual fundraising is a great way of assisting to raise funds for this important cause and involving others in the event.
ME Bank has been the proud major sponsor of the Women in Super Mother's Day Classic for six consecutive years. Many staff, their families and friends participate in the walk, run or volunteer on the day.
In addition, ME Bank has donated more than $95,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation on behalf of participants of its 'Go the Extra Step' pedometer campaign, open to participants of the Melbourne, Perth and Sydney Domain events in 2010.
